A six day yoga tour of southern Iceland with Sun and Moon Yoga led by Annie Moyer and Amir Tahami. We begin the trip in Reykjavik and travel north east up the coast to the Kirkjubaejarklauster area, stopping along the way for black sand beaches, waterfalls and awe -inspiring views. We will spend two nights on the east coast and visit the iceberg lagoon and nearby glaciers. Traveling the Golden Circle on way to our overnight in Selfoss, we stop to view the gigantic Gulfoss waterfall and shooting geysers in Geysir. Iceland is wild and beautiful, steeped in magic and the mystic. Schedule permitting, daily yoga classes with Annie and Amir

August 25 Depart US (note: most flights are overnight, arriving the next morning).

August 26 Arrive Keflavik, Iceland. Optional early morning visit to the Blue Lagoon. A great way to begin the adventure and dive into the beauty of Iceland. If you are interested, we’ll help you arrange this wonderful excursion. You catch the Blue Lagoon bus at the Airport and after your soak in the hot springs another bus brings you to our first night’s hotel in Reykjavik. You can store your luggage at the hotel and head out to explore the city. Stroll the vibrant Old Harbor and Grand District, Reykjavik’s newest hip district with small shops, museums, coffee bars and restaurants. Stop by the new Harpa Concert Hall and climb the church tower of Hallgrimskirkja to view the city. We’ll meet as a group at 5:30 PM at our hotel for our opening circle and orientation. We will arrange group reservations for dinner at a local restaurant following our meeting. Overnnight, Fosshotel.

August 27 We travel along the south coast with a stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall for a walk in the mists. We will continue past the looming Eyjafjoll Mountains including the glacier volcano Eyjafjallajokul, that erupted in 2010 to see the black volcanic sand beaches in Reynisfjara. Yoga class and overnight in Kirkjubaejarklaustur, Hotel Klaustur. B, L, D

August 28 Today we visit Jokulsarlon, the glacial lagoon at the southern edge of the Vatnajokull glacier that is regarded as one of Iceland’s greatest natural wonders. Huge chunks of ice regularly calve off the glacier and make their way to the sea via the glacier lagoon. Continuing to the small Fjallsarlon Glacier lagoon we tour the Skaftafell area of Vatnajokull National Park. Here you can see lush vegetation , icebergs, canyons, hanging valleys, arches and more in the vast and varied Park. On the way back to our hotel we’ll stop at Dverghamrar, the Dwarf Cliffs a small canyon of unusual hexagonal basalt columns. Yoga class and overnight in Kirkjubaejarklaustur, Hotel Klauster. B, L, D

August 29 We leave for the Classic Golden Circle and begin with the Gulfoss waterfall. This two tiered waterfall drops 32 meters into a 70 meter canyon a mile long. It is spectacular. Next we’ll visit the Geysir area with its spouting geysers and colorful hot springs. We complete the Golden Circle a the beautiful Pingvellir National Park. This Unesco World Heritage site is an ancient assembly site of the Vikings and the start of the Icelandic Parliment in 930 AD. It was here on June 17, 1944 that Iceland celebrated their independence form Denmark. Pingvellir plains are located on the north Atlantic rift that splits Iceland from the North America and Eurasian continents. Yoga class and overnight in Selfoss, Hotel Selfoss. B. L. D

August 30 Continuing our journey through the volcanic wonderland of the Reykjanes Peninsula. We’ll stop at lighthouses, geothermal areas and mud pools, working our schedule with the energy of the group. Return to Reykjavik for farewell dinner together. Overnight in Reykjavik, Fosshotel.

August 31 Depart for home.

$2995 per person (in double* room- with 2 beds) Single Supplement: + $500 . Triple room( per person) -$100. * (If the 2nd person in the room is not specified, we’ll try our best to match roommates. If we are unable to do so, please pay the single upgrade, +$500)

To register: $800 non-refundable deposit will hold your space, the final balance is due 90 days before the start of the tour (May 27). If registering after May 27, please pay in full.

Tour Price Includes: one group transfer to and from Keflavik airport, TBA, accommodations for 5 nights, all breakfasts, 4 lunches and 4 dinners, English speaking Icelandic guide, transportation in a high-quality van or bus, all taxes and fees, classes with Annie and Amir and your trip host, Kim.

Does not include: round trip airfare to Keflavik, Iceland (arrive 8/26, depart 8/31) meals and drinks not listed on itinerary, items of a personal nature, gratuities.

Cancellation: If you wish to cancel your booking, you may do so any time. If you cancel 91 days before the scheduled trip start date we will refund all amounts paid except for the initial deposit, which is non-refundable. If you cancel your booking 90 days or less prior to the scheduled trip start date (or if you fail to show up, or if you leave a trip prior to its completion for any reason), there are no refunds. Bookings are non-transferable after May 27.
